Fans of the iconic US folk duo Simon and Garfunkel will get the chance to listen to one of the finest tributes next weekend.
Duo Dan Haynes and Pete Richards will bring their act ’Bookends presents Simon and Garfunkel Through the Years’ to the Peel Centenary Centre for two nights, on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October, from 8pm.
The two musicians have toured the world with this tribute act to the great American song-writing partnership, and have won acclaim for the quality of their performances and the close resemblance to their recreation of the duo’s haunting sound.
They have been performing together since school, originally forming a tribute to Simon and Garfunkel which they named ’Sounds of Silence’.
After a break, they reformed in 2011 under the name of ’Bookends’, and a set of Simon and Garfunkel classics.
They have since toured the UK, Europe and America, and have been described as the closest thing to Simon and Garfunkel touring today.
Among the songs they will play are ’Sounds of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Mrs Robinson, the Boxer and many more classic songs.
Tickets for both shows are £18, and are available from Peter Norris Music, in Douglas, Shakti Man, in Ramsey, Celtic Gold in Peel and Thompson Travel in Port Erin, or through centenarycentre.com
