A family-run ski holiday business is bringing direct flights from the Isle of Man to the French Alps for the first time.

Guernsey-based Allez Ski has launched its first ski holidays from the island, including a direct charter flight from Ronaldsway Airport to Grenoble during February half-term 2027.

The company, which has been taking families from the Channel Islands directly to the Alps since 2008, says the Isle of Man is a natural expansion for its business.

Founder Darren Duquemin said the experience of operating from islands meant the company understood the benefits of direct travel.

‘Living on an island ourselves, we understand the difference a direct flight makes,’ he said.

‘Connecting through a UK airport with children, ski gear and luggage can take a lot of the fun out of getting to the mountains before the holiday has even started.’

Allez Ski has spent almost two decades operating direct ski holidays from Jersey and Guernsey, and says it hopes to bring the same approach to Manx families.

The Isle of Man programme combines the direct flight with transfers, accommodation and ski passes at Les 7 Laux in the French Alps.

The February half-term programme is now on sale.

Mr Duquemin said chartering an aircraft represented a significant commitment for the family-owned business, but said it was confident the Island was a good fit.

‘We know from our experience in Jersey and Guernsey just how much island families value the convenience of being able to fly directly to the Alps,’ he said.

He also acknowledged the challenge of establishing direct travel services from small islands.

‘People want more direct services, but those services only survive if people use them,’ he said.

The company hopes the initial programme will lead to a longer-term presence on the Isle of Man.

‘The Isle of Man feels strangely familiar to us,’ Mr Duquemin said.

‘We're starting relatively small. If Manx families embrace it, we'd love this to be the beginning of a long-term Isle of Man programme.’
