Isle of Man Pony Club member Blae Richardson and her horse Rico enjoyed a successful trip to the Junior International Tetrathlon at Moreton Morrell in Warwickshire recently.
Competing over two days alongside 163 other competitors, each rider represented a region of England, Scotland, Ireland or Wales, with the Isle of Man featuring under Northern England.
This is an exciting competition with places changing as each of the four disciplines takes place.
Blae had a good shoot to start off well and then posted the furthest swim in the girls with a personal best.
The Saturday evening entertainment saw each region demonstrating their dancing and singing skills and Northern England won this show with songs from Annie and Oliver.
On the second day of competition, Blae’s run was steady (not her favourite phase) and a near-perfect cross-country ride helped her team into second place out of 16 behind a squad from Ireland.
In addition, Blae was selected with four other girls to represent England (based upon her results over the last 12 months) and England were placed third behind Ireland and Scotland.
