The fifth and sixth rounds of the ACU Michelin British Enduro Championship take place here in the island this weekend.

The event is being hosted by Ramsey Motor Cycle Club for the first time with signing on taking place in the former Ramsey Courthouse from 4pm today (Friday), followed by scrutineering in the same area.

There will then be a ceremonial start at 10am on Saturday morning before riders head off in the reverse direction of the TT Course to Sky Hill and ultimately to the first test on the north-west coastline at Ballagarraghyn, an area previously used for several Fast Eddy events a number of years ago.

The other test will be a five-mile run through Ballaugh plantation. The course will be covered twice each day - with the overnight parc ferme on Saturday at Ramsey’s North Shore Promenade.

Daniel McCanney, David Knight and Jed Etchells will all lead the local charge in the event. Competing locally for the first time in seven months, St Mark’s ace Etchells is happy to be racing on home turf once again and is aiming for a good result.

The reigning Isle of Man Under-21 Sportsman of the Year commented: ‘I hope to finish on the podium - it would be a massive feat for me,’ he added.

‘I love having my friends and family and sponsors around me when I’m racing, supporting me. It’s definitely a comfort.’
