Mark Cavendish has confirmed that he will participate in next month’s Tour of Britain.
The Manx Missile will line up for Deceuninck-QuickStep at the week-long race which begins in Penzance on Sunday, September 5.
The event tackles eight stages, with finishes including Llandudno, North Wales, Gateshead and Warrington before ending on the streets of Aberdeen in Scotland.
Cavendish already has 10 wins at the Tour of Britain on his palmares and, having enjoyed a stunning return to form at the Tour de France last month, he may well fancy his chances of further success at this year’s event.
Speaking about the race, he commented: ’It is always an honour to race on the home roads of the Tour of Britain.
’It is a race where I have always enjoyed success and I am really looking forward to racing with what I know will be a strong Deceuninck-QuickStep team.
’It has already been a special year for me and riding the Tour of Britain will be a great way to see so many of the people that have supported me throughout.’
