The leading riders in the final round of Isle of Man Youth Trials Club’s championship had a close battle at South Barrule Quarry on Sunday.
Ultimately, Corey Peters did just enough to take the A/Youth Elite class honours ahead of Stanley Cubbon.
Peters dropped 30 to Cubbon’s 33, enough to confirm the former as overall 2021 club champion.
One of the rides of the day came from Jack Christian on the B/Youth Expert route, who finished clear of the field with a sparing loss of three to claim his first win of the year and claim the overall runner-up spot in the final standings.
Summer Peters made it a good day for Team Peters with a second place finish, proving enough for her to take the championship title.
Having claimed the C/Intermediate title at the previous round, Liam Barker rode up as a guest to take a good third place and show his potential for 2022.
Harry Beattie held his nerve to take top spot on the C/Intermediate route, losing eight marks to beat Rhett Iveagh by a single dab.
This secured Rhett the runner-up spot in the series, with third place finisher on the day, Zac Lund, also securing third in the championship.
The Intermediate Evo class saw Harrison Doyle clear of the field with a loss of 16, enough to take top spot from Oliver Kennington and Seb Iveagh. This left Oliver as the series champion, Seb as runner-up and Harrison third.
It was another close finish in the D/Cadets class with Pheric Lennon taking his Beta 80 round the tricky course for the only clean ride of the day and his first win in the championship.
Hot on his heels were the electric-powered bikes of Danny Cain and Alice Chestnut-Cubbon who lost two and three marks respectively to nail the top two positions in the year-end standings, also separated by a single mark, with Pheric taking the final podium spot.
The Rookie riders enjoyed their day with pocket rocket Torrin Lennon showing great progress to lose seven marks and finish top on the day, securing the championship.
James Arnold also rode well, growing in confidence all the time to end with a loss of 20 marks and runner-up in his first ride of the series.
Although a non-finisher on the day, Alessandra Beaumont had done enough in the previous rounds to finish as runner-up in her first year of competition.
In the supporting adult classes, three riders who still qualify as A class youths filled the top three spots in the Experts.
Mounted on a 300 Beta, Bobby Moyer saw off the challenge from 125 Scorpa-mounted Owen Chestnut and the 250 TRRS of Kaytlyn Adshead with a loss of three marks to Chestnut’s five and Adshead’s six.
Aaron Smith did enough on the Clubman route to hold off Mark Barker, losing two marks to the latter’s six and Nigel Beattie’s 16.
