With the Rossborough Mixed Hockey Leagues all but wrapped up, attention turns to the Mixed Cup and Plate semi-finals at Peel.

Mixed Cup semi-finals

Canaccord Genuity Vikings A must be favourites for the cup having knocked out Ramsey Crookall Bacchas A in the quarter-finals.

They must not be complacent though, having suffered a shock defeat to relegated Celts during their league campaign.

After a season of rebuilding, West Coast Fitness Valkyrs captain Greg Miller will be using all his experience to gee up his team to take their place in the final.

The other semi final sees Viking B and Ramsey LJ A battle it out. They have been finely matched this season in the league, with a draw in the first game and a narrow victory for Vikings B a few weeks ago.

The latter will be out to cap a successful season with a place in the final.

Mixed Plate semi-finals

Cherry Godfrey Cammags and Saracens Sabres met in the quarter-final yesterday (Wednesday) playing for the chance to face Bacchas B this Saturday.

Saracens will be looking to extend their unbeaten run and set up an eye-watering clash and, should they get through, they will face a Bacchas B side who will consider themselves in with a chance of avenging their league defeats and going for the silverware.

Having gained promotion to Mixed Division One, Saracens Colts will get an early chance to judge the standard of hockey in that league when they meet Bacchas C.

Finishing mid-table, the latter side will not find it easy against the fast, young legs of Saracens.

Could we have a Mixed Plate derby final?

l Away from the cup and plate action, there are still a couple of remaining league games which will be played this Saturday.

Rossborough Mixed

Division Two

Despite it being a hard season for Athena Healthcare Harlequins Colts, they have continued to play good hockey and their results have not always matched their play.

Maybe they can sign off for the season with a win against Valkyrs C.

Rossborough Mixed

Division Three

Vikings D (or Vikings All Stars as some people refer to them) have a 100 per cent record so far this season.

While they would like to maintain their record in the last game, Donna Harrison has other ideas and her Valkyrs charges are up for the challenge.

Under-16 Pre-Christmas

Tournament

A slight change to the competition format this year, with two groups of teams and each playing at different venues.

This event proved popular last year so hopefully the weather will treat it kindly.

This junior tournament is open for any players under-16 on September 1 so there should be plenty of skill on display.
