Daniel McCanney has signed for Spanish manufacturer Gas Gas, returning to the firm where he made his Enduro World Championship debut more than five years ago.

The 26-year-old has spent the last three years with the Husqvarna factory team, which recently confirmed that it was not to contest the 2018 world championship.

The 2013 Junior World Champion finished fifth in this year’s E2 championship and took his first senior class victory at the final round of the 2017 series in Germany last month.

Last weekend he won the final round of the 2017 British Enduro Championship.

He will ride alongside the French duo of Antoine Basset and Christophe Nambotin for the Gas Gas in a team managed by former world champion Gio Sala.

When last with the Catalan-based team McCanney finished third overall in 2012 before leaving to join Beta.
