The final event of the season hosted by Andreas Racing Association at Jurby Motordrome was the traditional four-hour endurance race.

In addition were two sidecar races over the regular distance of six laps, with both two and three-wheel events attracting healthy entries.

The day started wet with practice for the solo endurance riders in tricky conditions.

The first sidecar race was a cracker with Michael Jackson and Jake Roberts taking the early lead from visiting driver Greg Lambert and passenger Ollie Lace.

Unfortunately, after four laps, Jackson’s outfit came to a halt at the bus top chicane leaving Lambert and Lace to take the win from Steve Gregg and Bob Dowty, with Jim and Ben Gale bringing the KTM-powered Ireson outfit home in third place.

Race two for the chairs and the Jackson outfit didn’t make the start, so again Lambert took the win in steadily improving conditions from Gregg/Dowty and the Gale brothers.

As the day had gone so well, the endurance race started early and the track - though still damp - was getting better all the time.

Visiting riders from England, Scotland and as far afield as France joined various local teams for the four-hour event.

It got underway at midday with the traditional Le Mans-type start next to the paddock entrance and a good start made by all onto the damp former airfield circuit.

Pre-race favourites, the CBG Contractors team of Marc Colvin and the returning Andy Dudgeon, on the 650 Kawasaki twin didn’t get the best of starts with the team of ’Our mums hate us racing’ with Matt Davies on board taking the first-lap lead.

All was quiet on track with the pace car not being used throughout the afternoon, despite the mixed conditions. There were a few fallers but none were seriously injured.

The CBG team took the lead on lap 39 and only dropped back to second during the pit stops, retaining their advantage until the finish flag having completed 180 laps. Their quickest lap speed came late in the day on lap 93 with a time of 1min 12.553sec, an average speed of 84.352mph.

The quickest lap of the day was produced by visiting rider and Scarborough regular Mark Goodings with a lap of 1m 11.277s (85.862mph), set during the best conditions.

Of the 16 teams that started, all managed to finish.

It was great to see so many smiling faces at the end of a long day and season.

Thanks to all the riders and officials for a great event - I am sure they are all looking forward to next year.
