After the distraction of the Woods Cup and FA Cup recently, second division sides will refocus their attentions on the league this weekend.
Indeed there are a couple of big games which could prove pivotal in the race for the top four and possibly promotion in JCK Division Two come the end of the season. The two standout fixtures see Foxdale travel to current second-placed team Onchan while the sides in fourth and fifth - RYCOB and Marown - battle it out.
If leaders Castletown unexpectedly drop points away at Michael United, Onchan could well end the day top of the table should they get the better of Foxdale in a game switched to Groves Road.
This won’t be an easy game for the Os but, if they can replicate the reverse fixture when they triumphed 5-1, another three points could be theirs.
A close game could also unfold at Scoill ree Gorree between Youthie and Marown. The sides are locked on 31 points, two adrift of Pulrose and four off top spot in the division. Therefore, there is a lot riding on this game with both teams knowing defeat could seriously dent their hopes of glory this season.
League leaders Castletown will be expected to get the better of Michael United at Balleira Road but, with the westerners recording a 5-2 win over Governor’s last time out, the hosts may be confident of a shock.
Pulrose will also start as favourites when they visit Ayre United in Andreas, needing to bounce back after suffering a surprise defeat at the hands of Marown in their most recent league match. Malew will be keen to get back to winning ways when they head to the capital to face Gymns in Tromode.
The final game in Div Two could be a close one as Douglas and District host Governor’s with D&D still on a high after booking a place in the Woods Cup semi-finals.
