Cameron Avery has been named as the Canada Life Premier League Player of the Month for November.

The Marown defender has enjoyed a superb start to the 2020-21 top flight season and delivered a series of standout performances over the last few weeks in particular to claim the latest monthly accolade.

His team has taken the league by storm in recent weekends, embarking on a brilliant five-match winning run to surge clear of the dreaded relegation zone and safely into midtable.

Avery’s displays duly caught the eye of Eric Clague’s player ratings panel and, after scoring important goals against Douglas Athletic and Peel, he then netted a rare hat-trick against Douglas Royal on his way to garnering an excellent score of 12 points for the month.

Some 3.5 points behind him in second place was Corinthians’ striker Sean Doyle whose goalscoring exploits have helped the Whites open up a comfortable lead at the top of the Premier League table.

A hat-trick against Ballafletcher rivals Douglas Royal set the tone for the month before he went on to punish in-form Ayre United with a four-goal haul during his side’s 8-1 thrashing of the Tangerines in the north to take his seasonal tally to 24 goals.

In turn, Doyle was half a mark ahead of a trio of players all on eight points for November, namely Rushen United’s Adam Cooil, Marown’s Adam Mealin and St George’s winger Joey Morling.

Cooil has been one of the Spaniards standout performers so far this season and his recent displays have been recognised with him being named as the Young Player of the Month for November.

Like Avery, Mealin has played a key role in helping Marown move up the league table, while Morling has been one of Geordies more impressive performers of late, including grabbing an important goal against DHSOB.

Rounding off the top six in the monthly standings was Corinthians’ winger Dan Simpson who impressed to gain a score of 7.5 points.

In the overall seasonal rankings, Laxey defender David Reynolds currently leads the way with a total of 29.5 points, which is half a mark ahead of Corinthians attacker Stephen Whitley.

Rushen’s Maitland currently completes the top three on 28 points before a slight gap to St John’s defender Sam Ingham in fourth, Avery in fifth and Ayre’s Shaun Kelly sixth.
