St George’s warmed up for their FPI FA Cup semi-final clash with a Corinthians on Saturday with an 8-0 Premier League win over DHSOB at the Bowl on Wednesday night.
It only took the current Grand-Slam holders 12 minutes to breach the Old Boys’ rear-guard, captain Frank Jones capitalising on some hesitancy within the backline to dispatch home a shot from close range.
Jones again got on the scoresheet just after the half-hour mark following a Chris Bass Jr corner. Old Boys goalkeeper Sam Holliday dropped the ball and the Geordies’ number eight smashed home from close range.
Ciaran McNulty added to Geordies tally in the 56th minute, cutting in from the left before driving home from an oblique angle.
Jones completed his hat-trick two minutes later when he poked home Julian Ringham’s cross.
Jones was on target again, netting at the converting Furo Davies’s cross from the right at the near post to make it 5-0.
Sub Sid Batty netted another superb free-kick for the reigning champion’s sixth.
McNulty scored again after Jack McVey’s through-ball released the striker on the left before some unselfish work from Johnny Myers gave Bass Jr the opportunity to drive home a shot and complete the scoring.
