The Isle of Man FA’s men’s side are through to the next round of the FA Inter-League Cup after comfortably beating the Peterborough and District League 4-1 at the Bowl.
The hosts’ winning margin should have been more than it was as Paul Jones’s side dominated the latter stages of the first round tie at the Bowl.
The returning Sean Quaye gave the island side the lead within two minutes with a thumping header from man of the match Jack McVey’s free-kick.
Peterborough rallied and Scott Spearink fired in a equaliser with minutes of the host’s goal.
Another set piece, however, saw the IoMFA team edge ahead again, McVey forcing home a corner.
Peel winger Lee Gale ensured the hosts went into the half-time break with a 3-1 lead when he seized on a mistake in the visitors’ defence.
The islanders stretched their lead at the start of the second period when Furo Davies smashed in debutant Mike Williams low cross from the left.
Jones’s men will now meet the winner of the tie between Liverpool County League and the West Yorkshire League in the next round.
Before that the squad travel to Glasgow on Tuesday for the Umbro Quadrangular tournament and games against the amateur sides of Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Results: Saturday, October 7Canada Life Premier LeagueColby 1-7 CorinthiansDouglas Royal 2-8 DHSOBLaxey 3-3 St John’s JCK Division TwoCastletown 1-2 FoxholeGovernor’s Athletic 2-3 Ayre UnitedGymns 0-4 RYCOBMalew 0-3 OnchanMarown 1-0 Pulrose UnitedUnion Mills 8-2 Michael UnitedCanada Life Combination OneCorinthians 14-2 ColbyDHSOB L-L Douglas RoyalPeel 10-2 BraddanRushen 8-0 St Mary’sSt George’s 6-1 RamseySt John’s 4-1 LaxeyJCK Combination TwoAyre United 5-3 Governor’s AthleticFoxdale 1-3 CastletownMichael United 1-1 Union MillsOnchan 4-6 MalewPulrose United 2-4 MarownRYCOB 9-0 Gymns
