There was goals galore in the Canada Life Premier League on Tuesday evening, as the season’s first raft of mid-week games took place.
Across the six top flight games, a whopping 46 goals flew in. Thirteen of these were at Ballafletcher where Corinthians beat very near neighbours Douglas Royal 12-1.
FC Isle of Man quartet Sean Doyle, Ste Whitley, Luke Murray and Chris Cannell were on the scoresheet for the Whites, Doyle bagging five goals, Whitley four, Murray two and Cannell one.
Ex-Corinthians midfielder Sam Baines pulled one back for Royal.
There were also plenty of goals at Blackberry Lane as Rushen United triumphed 10-1 at DHSOB.
Dan Hattersley matched Doyle’s goalscoring feat by netting half of the Spaniards’ tally. Also on target for Liam Cowin’s Port Erin outfit were Jamie Johnston (2), Mike Williams, Ryan Crawley (2).
There was a cracker of a match at Douglas Road as Laxey triumphed 5-4 over hosts Peel in match that saw two players sent off from either side.
An early brace from Michael Fernandes put the Miners two goals up before summer signing Alex Holden pulled one back for the westerners.
Matty Wilkinson restored the visitors’ two-goal lead only for Jack Camarda and Aaron Costain to level things up for the hosts.
FC Isle of Man’s Camarda then put his side in front for the first time in the match, but two late goals from Jordan Cooper and Max Murley secured John Palmer’s men the three points.
Ramsey maintained their winning start to the new campaign with a 2-1 win over St John’s United. Goals from Dylan Pickles and Rob Moreton cancelled out Paul Whitehead’s strike for the Saints.Douglas Athletic got off the mark with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Marown.Martin Cowan, Mikey Callister and summer signing Jonny Knowles were on target for the Pinks, who bounced back from an opening-day defeat at the hands of Laxey.Marown initially led, but Craig Purvis's side hit back to pick up their first points of the term.St Mary’s triumphed 3-2 in the night’s other Premier League match, goals from Matty Kent-Lloyd and a brace from the returning Ste Priestnal ensuring the Saints beat Ayre United at the Bowl.
