There was excitement galore in Saturday afternoon’s three ECAP FA Cup quarter-finals, with all three ending with a 4-3 scoreline.

Last week’s giant killers Malew, nearly took another top-flight scalp in Ballasalla, but DHSOB battled back to beat the second-tier side 4-3.

Laxey booked their place in the competition’s last four with a 4-3 win over in-form Ramsey.

Railway Cup winners and Premier League leaders Ayre United required extra-time to edge past fellow CLPL side Douglas Royal by the same scoreline at Ballafletcher.

Holders Corinthians are the other side through after they beat Peel last weekend.

Friday’s wet weather forced the postponement of several games, but a handful of league fixtures did go ahead.

The aforementioned Corinthians and Peel met in the Premier League this week, but on this occasion the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw.

Bottom side RYCOB’s top-flight survival hopes took another blow as they were beaten 2-0 by second-bottom Union Mills. Youthie are now nine points adrift with half a dozen games remaining.

In Division Two, only two games went ahead. Castletown beat Braddan 2-0, while Pulrose overcame Douglas and District 5-2.

Reports on the games at Laxey and Malew in Tuesday’s Examiner.
