The new Isle of Man Football Association national women’s team manager has been confirmed.
Wayne Brown is the new man in the hotseat on a fixed term basis through to the 2029 Island Games and will lead the team’s pursuit of gold on home soil as part of the FA’s Road to Gold 2029 campaign.
Brown replaces namesake Wayne Lisy who stepped down in August following a successful few years at the helm.
A UEFA C Licence holder, Brown brings significant experience from senior women’s football in the UK, having successfully led Alton FC women’s and girls development between 2021 and 2025.
During his time with the Hampshire-based club, he played a key role in growing the squad from around 11 players to more than 30, creating a positive and competitive environment that saw the women’s team finish runners-up in their division and win the Junior Shield.
He also worked extensively across the girls’ pathway, helping to create clear progression opportunities into senior football.
Locally, Brown is currently manager of the Douglas and District women’s team who have enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Canada Life Women’s League.
Confirmed his appointment, the Isle of Man FA said: ‘Throughout the recruitment process, Wayne demonstrated a clear vision for the future of the women’s national team, centred on strong relationships with local clubs, wider player identification, progressive fixture opportunities and the continued development of a culture capable of competing for major honours.
‘We would also like to place on record its thanks to the other three candidates who took part in the interview process. The quality of the candidates was extremely high and made the final decision a very difficult one.
‘Football on the Isle of Man simply could not operate without the commitment of our volunteers. We are incredibly fortunate to have so many passionate people willing to give their time, energy and expertise to support the development of the game at every level.’
The national team has enjoyed unprecedented success in recent years, including winning the inaugural Cherry Godfrey Cup in 2024 and securing silver medals at both the 2025 Island Games and the 2026 Cherry Godfrey Cup.
Brown’s appointment represents the next step in the team’s journey as preparations continue towards the 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands and, ultimately, the opportunity to compete for gold on home soil in 2029.
A delighted Brown commented: ‘I’m really excited to get started and grateful to the Isle of Man FA for the trust they’ve placed in me.
‘There’s some fantastic talent in the island and I can’t wait to work with the players, build on the strong foundations already in place and see what we can achieve together.’
