With the Canada Life Premier League taking a back seat this weekend, the four games in JCK Division Two take centre stage on Sunday.
The second round of fixtures of the 2018-19 campaign have been put back 24 hours to avoid a clash with Saturday’s Classic TT schedule.
Some clubs have elected not to take up the option to play on Sunday, while others have been hit by call-ups to the Isle of Man FA under-18 squad.
This has resulted in all of the round’s top-flight games being postponed, as well as two games in JCK Division Two.
Of the fixtures that do go ahead perhaps the most intriguing is at Noble’s Park where Douglas and District make their seasonal bow against Union Mills.
The Millers opened with a narrow 4-3 defeat at the hands of RYCOB and another tight encounter should be on the cards this weekend.
Foxdale finished third last term and should be firmly in the promotion race this campaign.
Dale opened with a narrow win over Governor’s Athletic at Bemahague and will be hoping to make it two wins out of two when they host Ayre United at Billy Goat Park.
The Tangerines have their own 100 per cent record to defend though after goals from Andrew Crowe and Ste Mealin kicked off new coach Liam Christian’s reign with a win over Gymns.
New Dale signing Andrew Williamson marked his official debut with a goal and his good form coupled with that of Silver Boot holder Jay Chatwood, should see the westerners take the points in this one.
Chatwood’s former club Michael United host a Pulrose United side heavily tipped to feature in the league’s upper reaches this season.
Pully got off to a solid start with a 1-0 win over Onchan last week and should have the attacking arsenal to overcome Michael Corlett’s Balleira Road side.
Finally, a question mark hangs over the final game of the day. RYCOB are meant to host Governor’s Athletic at Scooil Ree Gorree. The pitch at the latter venue, however, has not fared well over the summer and the northerners have been working hard this week make sure the game goes ahead. If it does, the hosts should edge it.
