St George’s face another test of their Canada Life Premier League title credentials on Saturday when they travel to fourth-placed Rushen.

Geordies’ undefeated start to the campaign nearly went up in smoke last week as they required late goals from Chris Bass Jr and Furo Davies to salvage a 3-3 draw against St John’s.

Chris Bass Sr’s men will shoot to the top of the standings if they win the three games in hand they currently hold over leaders Corinthians.

Rushen lost their Old Firm encounter with Peel 2-1 last time out, the Spaniards’ first defeat since Geordies won the reverse fixture 6-2 so expect a close match.

The weekend’s action kicks off a little earlier than normal with a Friday evening game at Mullen-e-Cloie.

St John’s host DHSOB in a match that could go either way, especially after Rick Holden’s hosts pushed St George’s all the way last week.

There’s a big game at the foot of the table as Douglas Royal take on fellow promoted side Braddan.

Royal sit rooted to the bottom of the standings with only two points on the board from their first nine games of the campaign. Chris Feeney’s men currently trail safety and third-bottom Colby by five points and may sniff a positive result from this weekend’s clash with the out-of-form Swans.

Colby themselves travel to Laxey off the back of an impressive 2-1 win over St Mary’s. The southerners badly needed the win and will travel to Glen Road with renewed confidence. However, they will face a Miners that has won their last two games and that triumphed 6-0 in the reverse fixture.

In-form Douglas Athletic face Peel at Springfield Road in an intriguing looking game. Athletic have won their last four and will relish a game against Steve Falconer’s men on their narrow home pitch.

St Mary’s seemed to have turned a corner in the last few weeks with wins over Braddan and Ramsey, but were brought back down to earth with a crash by Colby on Saturday.

They face a tough test this weekend when table-toppers Corinthians visit the Bowl.

When the pair met in September the Whites won 5-1. Expect a closer encounter this time out.
