The 10th installment of the 2019-20 Isle of Man Newspapers’ Team of the Week sees four more players making their seasonal debuts in the hypothetical XI.

Last Saturday’s action in the Canada Life Premier League produced several eye-catching results at both ends of the table, not least at Glencrutchery Road where Douglas Athletic stunned St George’s 1-0.

Unsurprisingly, donning the goalkeeper gloves this week is DAFC number one Adam Kinvig who conjured up a fine performance for the Pinks with several important saves to keep a clean sheet and earn his second TotW appearance of the season.

Another of his side’s stars during that famous win was James Aire who grabbed the man of the match honours for Athletic with an excellent display and therefore duly takes his place in a four-man defence in Team of the Week.

Slotting in alongside him and likewise earning his third TotW cap of the season is St Mary’s player/manager Alex Harrison as well as debutants Ciaran Leece and Daniel Lace.

Harrison produced a typically assured performance in the heart of the St Mary’s defence as the reigning Premier League champions maintained their lead at the top of the table with a 3-1 victory over Corinthians at the Bowl.

Less than a week after his sister Bernadette Dunn played her 250th game for Peel women, Daniel Lace marked his 650th first team appearance for the westerners with a good showing during their game against DHSOB, helping his side come from a goal down to eventually win 3-1 at Douglas Road.

Leece was Ramsey’s star performer as the northerners pushed in-form Rushen hard in the clash at Croit Lowey, frustrating the Spaniards who eventually won 4-2 thanks to two goals in the final 10 minutes of the match.

Also playing a starring role in that fixture was Greg Norris who ran the show in midfield for the Spaniards and continues to impress in his maiden Premier League campaign, therefore booking his place in a three-man Team of the Week midfield.

Joining him in the trio are St Mary’s captain Frank Jones and Douglas Royal’s James Holliday, the Saints skipper enjoying a man of the match performance in both midfield and up front which was capped by a goal in their aforementioned 3-1 victory.

Likewise, Halliday was the standout performer for Royal as he produced a battling display in midfield which helped inspire his team-mates to pick up a potentially pivotal point against Marown at Ballafletcher.

The latest Team of the Week selection is completed by a three-man frontline comprising of Peel’s Dan Simpson, Laxey’s Jordan Cooper and Owen Canipa of Pulrose who struck five goals between them at the weekend.

Cooper and Canipa went head-to-head at Glen Road where the Miners’ hopes of a place in the Railway Cup suffered a blow as, despite Cooper’s brace, they were held to a 3-3 draw by Pully thanks to Canipa’s late strike.

Elsewhere, Simpson was on fine form as he also netted two goals during the westerners’ 3-1 win over Old Boys, a result which keeps the Sunset City side in with a shout of Railway Cup qualification.

Picking up the refereeing honours for the first time this season is Ollie Johnson who impressed with the whistle during the St George’s v Douglas Athletic clash at Glencrutchery Road.
