There was only one contender for the Canada Life Premier League’s latest Player of the Day this week.
St George’s striker Ciaran McNulty netted a double hat-trick as Geordies came from behind to beat Laxey 7-2 at Glen Road.
McNulty’s six-goal haul means he becomes the first person to score 300 goals in the Manx Premier League era.
The former Gymns man now has 12 for the season and 302 league goals since 2007.
His latest Man of the Match performance against the Miners secures him a third Team of the Week appearance of the campaign.
Joining the in-form front man in the TotW’s front three is Peel’s Lee Gale and Corinthians’ Danny Oram.
The latter bagged a hat-trick as the Whites continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 7-0 win away at one of his former clubs Ramsey.
Gale also troubled the scorers at the weekend as the Sunset City side overcame a stubborn Douglas Royal 4-0 at Ballafletcher to move up to third in the standings.
There’s a decidedly attacking feel to the TotW’s three-man midfield.
Taking station on the left flank is St Mary’s summer signing Jordan Cooper who bagged a hat-trick for his new side on Saturday.
The former Gymns man netted his treble after coming on as a substitute in the Saints 4-0 win over DHSOB.
Also making their seasonal TotW bows are St John’s Nicky Sloan and Geordies skipper Frank Jones.
The latter was one of the Glencrutchery Road side’s top performers as they notched up a fifth win in as many matches.
Sloan marked his recent return to the St John’s first team with a goal as the westerners picked up their second point of the season in a 4-4 draw at Douglas Athletic.
Impressing for the Pinks in that match was full-back Danny Pennington who bagged a brace in the high-scoring encounter at Springfield Road.
The side’s other three defenders all kept clean sheets as their respective teams secured victory.
Braddan captain Joey Andrews was a commanding presence as the promoted Swans beat Colby 2-0 to pick up their third win of a fruitful start to the campaign.
Slotting in alongside Andrews and Pennington are centre-backs Phil Kelly and Dominic McGreevy.
Both troubled the scorers at the weekend, Kelly in Corinthians’ big win at Ramsey and McGreevy was on target as Peel triumphed at Royal.
Shining with the whistle in that match was Referee of the Week Willie Cowley.
Claiming the TotW’s coveted number one jersey is Colby keeper Matty Cregeen for the second successive week. Cregeen made numerous saves to restrict Braddan to two goals on Saturday.
