The big matches keep coming for Peel in the Canada Life Premier League.
The westerners’ title hopes took a dent last week as they lost 3-1 at reigning champions St George’s.
Next up for Steve Falconer’s side is a home game, wintry weather permitting, against DHSOB.
Another loss in this one would see the Sunset City side lose further ground on pacesetters Corinthians and St George’s.
The pair drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in November and another tight game looks on the cards.
Old Boys were narrowly beaten by Corinthians at the weekend and will provide a stern test for a Peel side looking to bounce back from their third loss of the campaign.
The race to beat the drop took another twist last weekend. Bottom side Ramsey triumphed away 3-2 at Douglas Athletic last weekend, to secure only their second game of the season.
That victory means that the northerners are now back to within four points of third-bottom Colby, but having played SIX games less.
With a new spring in their step, Ramsey host St Mary’s at Ballacloan.
This time last week this would have looked like a straightforward win for Alex Harrison’s Saints. However, after last week’s win this should be a tighter affair.
Second-bottom Braddan will be hoping Douglas Athletic’s slip to a second successive defeat as the pair meet at Victoria Road.
Athletic have toiled in recent weeks against fellow strugglers Douglas Royal and Ramsey, therefore Braddan will be eyeing up some points to take them above Colby and Royal in the standings.
The Pinks won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Groves Road and will start as marginally favourites against Will Smith’s side who haven’t picked up a point in the league since the end of October.
Colby’s hopes of some points for their survival fund look slim as they host fourth-placed Rushen United in a southern derby at the Station Fields.
Douglas Royal might fair slightly better as the entertain mid-table Laxey at Ballafletcher.
Royal have clawed their way out of the relegation zone in recent months with some improved performances.
A game against a Laxey side that has only played once this calendar year may cough up some more precious points.
Corinthians ground out a good 0-1 win at Blackberry Lane last week and will need to be out their best again this week as they take on a St John’s side that has won its last three in all competitions.
The Whites won the return fixture 2-0 and a similar result should be on the cards.
