Kieran Tierney is expected to feature for Scotland against Auld Enemy rivals England at Hampden Park next week.

The FIFA World Cup European qualifying group F clash on June 10 will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and could prove crucial in the British sides’ bids to book their place at next year’s tournament in Russia.

Manx-born full-back Tierney was initially a doubt for the match after he went off injured early on during Celtic’s Scottish Cup final with Aberdeen at the weekend, suffering a suspected broken jaw after being caught in the mouth by Jayden Stockley.

It was thought that KT’s injury would rule him out of the forthcoming World Cup qualifier, with surgery on his jaw a possibility, but Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has named the left-back in his squad for the highly-anticipated clash.

The recently-crowned Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year appeared to lose two teeth in the incident and was taken to hospital.

But the talented youngster still managed to make it back to Hampden Park just as his replacement, Tom Rogic, net a dramatic late winner to seal a 2-1 win for the Bhoys and complete an incredible unbeaten treble, the Glasgow club having also won the Scottish Premier League title and the League Cup.

Footage appeared on social media in the aftermath of the game which shows Tierney - still fully kitted with boots and all - sprinting through rival fans outside the stadium and into the arena in time for the trophy presentation.

The following is an extract from the Herald Scotland: ’As Aberdeen fans poured out of the exits and flooded the car park and roads surrounding Hampden, police refused to allow Tierney, accompanied by a member of Celtic’s medical staff, to drive through believing it was too dangerous given the number of surrounding pedestrians.

’Tierney left the vehicle on foot and hoofed it back through the crowds, still in boots and full Celtic kit, to ensure that he was there when the cup was handed out.

’He was given a rousing reception when he raced up the steps to lift the trophy with an emotional display towards the Celtic support.’

Tierney’s close friend and team-mate Patrick Roberts had also gone out of his way to ensure the Manxman was part of the trophy celebrations, holding aloft a replica of Kieran’s number 63 shirt in tribute, a gesture appreciated by Tierney’s parents who were in the crowd at Hampden.

Speaking afterwards, Roberts commented: ’Kieran wasn’t really up to talking, but he was back there in the dressing room, enjoying the celebrations with all the lads. I’m glad he got there for that.

’I thought he was going to miss the trophy presentation, which was why I put his shirt on.

’I couldn’t see him around, but his ugly face popping up to cheer up the fans was some sight.

’I thought it was only right to get his shirt out if he wasn’t going to make it - the fans love him to bits. He’s Mr Celtic.

’When he did turn up, there was more anger than joy when he picked up the trophy, I think!

’I haven’t looked back at it, but he got an elbow to the face and his teeth were, well, minging when I looked at him.

’Then we found out he’s broken his jaw, so I’m sure that will be sore for a couple of weeks.

’I just think he was angry because he couldn’t take part in the rest of the game, but we won and he’s a part of that.

’I’m delighted for him because he’s born into this club.

’To win a treble and go a whole season invincible at the club he supports, it’s massive to him.’
