A total of 36 primary age children took part in the Rising Stars Badminton Tournament for the Tedda Cain Cups during the half-term holiday.

For some of the children it was their first taste of competitive badminton.

It was nice to see everyone giving their all in the games.

Winner of Year 3 girls was Lara Stewart with 61 points. Year 4 winner was Sophie Clague with 80 points, Year 5 Kelly Cheung with 105 and Year 6 Fatima Syed with 105 points.

Year 3 Boys winner was Jasper Corlett with 77 points, Harry Quayle won Year 4 with 105, Advaith Malikireddy Year 5 with 77 and Ziyad Sulthan Year 6 with 66, only one point ahead of George Leece.

The children were then matched up for doubles and the winners of boys’ section A were Jacob Kelly and Jack Scambler. Winners of section B were George Leece and Freddie Mooney.

The girls doubles winners were Kelly Cheung and Liana Petrova.

All children received medals at the end of the tournament. Trophies were presented to the year winners by Tracy Kelly, daughter of Tedda Cain who was a keen supporter and coach of junior players.
