Castle Rushen High School student Jay Pearson (pictured) has signed up to race the ’UKC’ Ultimate Karting Championships and Super 1 Series this season.

The 15-year-old from Port Erin has been racing karts locally from the age of five and has now moved onto the ultimate in kart racing proudly flying the Manx flag.

It’s going to be a tough year ahead for the teenager, juggling studies and racing, but the experience and knowledge he will gain racing at this level will be priceless.

Last year was a fantastic one for Jay, finishing the season off with three clear race wins. This secured him the runner-up spot in the championship, earning him the Junior Rotax Max O Plate as champion.

Now equipped with a new kart and engine, he has been further spurred on by new sponsors under the JLP Motorsport Team (IoM) banner.

Jay has also signed up to race the senior class in the Honda Prokart Extreme category of the (IKR) Independent Kart Racing Series, so he has a busy period ahead.

JLP Motorsport would like to thank all the local sponsors: Think Smart Management, Rick Sutcliffe, Robinsons, Kings Guest House, Castle Cabs, MW Motors, KR Builders, BodyCraft Gym, Ellan Vannin Plumbing Heating, MW Plastering, Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and Taste of Bengal.
