The Isle of Man Under-17 netball team’s hopes of competing in this weekend’s European Championships have been dashed by the weather.

The Hooded Ram-sponsored squad were due to fly to Dublin today ahead of matches against Gibraltar, Ireland, Malta, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.

However, the competition has now been cancelled because of the snow and ice in Dublin.

A statement released by the tournament organisers said: ’On behalf of Netball Europe sadly we have to announce the Under 17 competition in Dublin hosted by Netball Ireland has had to be cancelled due to very adverse weather conditions that are outside our control.’
