The 2026-27 local badminton league season is at risk of not taking place.

That's according to the Isle of Man Badminton Association, with the new campaign just around the corner.

In a post on social media, the governing body for the sport in the island stated that they are still without a league secretary and that, if one does not come forward in the next few days, the new season will not take place.

The statement said: 'For the attention of everyone who played in last season's league fixtures, at present we do not have a league secretary to look after the running of the leagues.

'This role is significantly smaller now than in previous years and will be in conjunction with Nick and Steven, who have set up a new online system for the leagues.

'If we do not have anyone interested in taking on the role by the end of Friday [September 11], we will proceed on the basis that the leagues will not be running this season, and bookings will need to be cancelled.

'Nick and Steven have tried to give everyone as much notice and support as possible and made their position clear from the start.'

Appealing for someone to step up, the spokesperson added: 'The ball is now in your court for someone to come forward to take on the post, or there will be no badminton matches this season.'
