There is likely to be plenty of fireworks in round two round of the Microgaming Cross-Country League at Queen Elizabeth II High School this Sunday afternoon.
Hosted by Western AC, the course - newly adapted last year - proved a success and it will hopefully again prove a cracker this time.
The action starts at 2pm with the younger age groups (under-nines followed by under-11s).
Later in the afternoon the senior races will take place and it will be interesting to see if Alan Corlett and Rachael Franklin can continue with their impressive form as shown in the curtain raiser on the Castle Rushen High School course when both rocketed to the front of their races and won by large margins.
Athletes and parents are encouraged to visit the IoM Athletics Association website where they will find a series of ’frequently asked questions’, with answers, that will aid in understanding how to avoid queueing for too long, what to do if you lose your number etc. It is well worth looking at the website and picking up some useful tips.
Thanks go to Western AC for hosting the event, QEII School and the private landowner for their help, also Microgaming for sponsoring the series. It should be a great day of competition on a spectator-friendly course.
Next week’s edition will include a full report on the event with pictures and results.
