Ryan Fairclough won round three of the single-lap Ramsey Firemen’s road running league 13 seconds quicker than his opening round victory.
He led the 1.5-mile sprint all the way, but was kept honest by Corbyn Schade in the latter’s league debut as he only turned 16 on November 11.
Schade, like several more of the younger runners in the Northern AC event, had also contested the Inter-Schools cross-country event a few hours earlier.
Steven Quayle maintained his consistency with his third top-three finish in as many rounds.
Maddy McMullan, runner-up in her class of the Inter-Schools cross country that afternoon, showed no signs of tiredness - winning the women’s one-lapper by 33 seconds from Becky Watterson, who had won the opening two rounds of the series.
Nhlanhla ’Fortune’ Nzama had a storming run to win his second three-lapper of the Ramsey Bakery-sponsored series in succession.
His time of 24m 36s was 32 seconds quicker than his round two result - no doubt aided by the fact that he had a good battle throughout with the returning Jack Okell, who was only nine seconds behind at the close.
Over-50 Mike Garrett went sub-25 minutes to finish a close third, comfortably ahead of Andrew Isaac and Richard Shipway.
Becky Pate won the women’s race in 28m 26s, nine seconds quicker than her round two time when she was runner-up to Elissa Morris. Pate also won round one.
Joanne Schade replicated her son Corbyn’s second place in a pb time of 30.33.
