Bowdon will be the first visiting team of 2022 at Port-e-Chee and with them a chance for Douglas to leapfrog the Manchester-based side into 12th spot in North One West.
In a season decimated by postponements, Douglas have games in hand on all the teams above and need to get back in the saddle after a long break since Kendal’s visit on December 11.
Broughton Park’s reluctance to travel cost Douglas another home fixture last week, but the upside is a number of recoveries from injury and illness, including Simon Hoddinott, Luke Hyland, Will Cain and Niall Killey and availability of a new cap in Harry Swayne.
A prospective partnership of Harry Hewson and Swayne in midfield stirs the anticipation.
Fresh and rested, or bruised and match hardened, it is dependent on which circumstance you subscribe to, but given Bowdon last took winners points away from the IoM 20 years ago when the teams were in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three, Douglas must start as favourites.
Kick-off is at the slightly earlier time of 1.45pm.
Douglas squad: Ralph Clarke, Simon Hoddinott, Robert Todd, Carl Markl-Ferns, Harry Raven, Nick Hughes, Niall Killey, Blake Snell, Seth Waterworth, Luke Hyland, Bryn Snellgrove, Shay Waterworth, Harry Swayne, Will Cain, Charlie Henthorn, Kyle Martin, Craig Martin, Owen Carvin, Harry Hewson.
