After a weekend off for cup games, the Manx Shield returns with three matches this Saturday.
Vagabonds B take on Douglas Celts at Ballafletcher, Ramsey B head to Castletown and there’s an all-Nomad clash at King William’s College where Southern and Emerging Nomads meet.
Douglas won the earlier ’Auld Firm’ clash and the 46-5 scoreline suggests an easy day for the Port-e-Chee outfit. However, on the pitch it was far from it.
Carl Markl-Ferns intercepted one and scored another that he had no right to. Take those 14 points out and it’s a much closer game.
Vagas’ finishing was poor and they should have had more than Dave Godwin’s late consolation.
With all that said though, Douglas will start as favourites.
The game at Poulsom Park could be an interesting match-up.
Ramsey won there in the Manx Bowl earlier in the season but their form has been somewhat inconsistent and this could be Town’s chance to pick up a win.
The wily Darren Ideson could return at 10 for Ramsey and provide some steady ball to the pacemen outside.
Nico Gantous, Reece Noden and Jordan Walsh all have gas aplenty if they can get some ball.
Town though have plenty in their locker too. Tom Bielich has notched up five tries this season and doesn’t need a second invitation if shown the outside.
