As there are various Manx teams competing in England Hockey championship games this weekend, it’s a quieter week locally, particularly in the Premier League.
However, there is still plenty of action with the title races in all leagues hotting up.
In the Premier League the only fixture is Vikings versus Harlequins which takes place at the NSC on Saturday morning.
Second-placed Vikings should win here and will seek to increase their goal difference if the runners-up spot goes down to the wire.
Harlequins have struggled this season and are yet to record a win.
Over in Division One the title race is well and truly underway, with league leaders Vikings B taking on fifth-placed Bacchas C.
Vikings will be aiming to increase their lead at the top of the table but a Bacchas side determined to get out of the drop zone could be a hard team to overcome.
The game of the day is likely to be second place Castletown Celts against third-placed Saracens Sabres. This match could go in anybody’s favour with plenty of end-to-end action in prospect. Vikings will be hoping that Saracens beat Castletown so they can extend their lead.
In-form Valkyrs B will face bottom-of-the-table Castletown Cammags.
Valkyrs have found their feet in the second half of the season and will be buoyed by their impressive 4-1 win over Saracens last week.
In Division Two, Bacchas Colts host Valkyrs C and again this will be a tough match to call: even though Bacchas sit higher in the table, Valkyrs’ strike-force are on fire at the minute scoring no fewer than seven goals last weekend.
Top-of-the-table Vikings C will play Valkyrs D in which there should be no upsets and a win for Vikings will see them extend their lead by four points.
In Division Three, a Vikings team top the table again - that’s all leagues bar the Premier League - quite the statistic. However, this won’t be the case after this weekend as long as Saracens Colts win.
The blacks don’t have a fixture this weekend and only sit one point ahead of second-placed Saracens Colts who play bottom-of-the-table Castletown Southerners.
Sitting mid-table, Bacchas D battle it out with Harlequins B at Ramsey Grammar.
This will be a game showcasing plenty of young talent so expect fast-paced, counter attacking and end-to-end action from this fixture.
Finally, Saracens Sharks play Harlequins Colts. Statistically, Harlequins should have the edge here, particularly after thrashing Bacchas 5-0 last weekend.
