The police have issued what they call a 'final reminder' that the deadline to renew Part 1 Firearm Certificates is this Friday, March 31.

One hundred have still not been completed.

A police spokesman said: 'Any person who retains possession of their firearms on or after April 1 and who has failed to renew their firearm certificate will be liable to prosecution and any storage of firearms will be for their own cost.

'Late returns will also be a relevant factor in any decision making relating to their continued suitability as a licence holder both now and in the future.'
