Josephina Dunlop recently celebrated her 100th birthday at Grove Mount residential home.

Mrs Dunlop, who is Spanish but has lived on the Isle of Man for more than 20 years, received a card by special delivery from the Queen to mark the occasion.

She also enjoyed a birthday tea at the home which was attended by the Lieutenant Governor and Lady Gozney, staff and residents from the home and four family members who had travelled from Spain for the celebration.

Margaret Lombard-Chibnall, a longtime friend of Mrs Dunlop, had a birthday cake made for her.

She said: ’She was absolutely thrilled to bits and went from crying her eyes out at seeing the people from Spain to laughing her head off. She couldn’t have had a better day.’
