Each week we will publish a short poem, written by some of our Manx Bards and other local poets.
These poems are short, fun or thoughtful little pieces, written to last around 20 seconds and can be recited during the time it takes to wash your hands.
This week’s poem was written by Sara Goodwins, named the fourth Manx Bard in 2017, who originally came up with the idea of the short poems.
This poem was read out on BBC Radio 4 by Gyles Brandreth.
We will publish more of readers’ poems over the next few weeks, along with a selection of poems written by some of the other living Manx Bards.
Why not try writing your own 20-second poem?

Water hotting, spotting blotting
?Wet, wet, wet.
Loads of sudsy, fubsy, rubsy –
?Not done yet.
Scrubbing, grubbing in the tubbing
?Rub, rub, rub;
Linger, linger, finger wringer
?Scrub, scrub, scrub.
Washy, ploshy, splashy, plashy –
?Make hands gleam.
Taking time and killing grime:
?Clean, clean, CLEAN.
