An improvement scheme for an estate in Colby will include the introduction of a 20mph speed limit.
The Department of Infrastructure has written to Arbory and Rushen Commissioners to announce that the improvement scheme in Station Park is due to begin.
It comes after a previous consultation with residents and the local authority about the scope and design of the project.
In its letter, the DoI said: ’This scheme will include the renewal and upgrading of both roads and footways, together with the installation of new water, electrical and telecoms services.
’The scheme will also include traffic calming measures and the creation of a 20mph "Home Zone" encompassing the whole of the estate.
’The scheme includes elements that were identified through our earlier consultation with residents, including the provision of up to nine extra parking places, whilst maintaining the central green area as recreation space to be enjoyed by all.
’The department is currently in the process of appointing a contractor to undertake this scheme. It is anticipated that works will get under way on or about Monday, August 17.’
Once chose, the successful firm will write to all residents outlining its programme of works and a time line through to completion and will be responsible for liaising with residents on a day to day basis.
