Firefighters were called out to deal with flat fire on Osbourne Grove, Douglas.

The 999 call-out came just after lunchtime yesterday (Sunday).

On arrival fire crews were met with smoke issuing from a first floor flat.

They forced entry and used a hosereel to extinguish a small fire in the kitchen caused by an unattended and overheated pan on the hob.

They remained in attendance for about 40 minutes while they cleared the building of smoke.

The working smoke alams warned neighbours of the fire who had then called 999.
