Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident which happened in and around the area of Upper Dukes Road and St Ninian’s Road in Douglas around 1am on Saturday 22nd May 2021.

The incident involved an altercation between two local men, during which time one of them received injuries to his head which were treated at Nobles hospital and are not described as being life threatening.

Due to the nature and circumstances of what occurred, armed officers were deployed in order to find the man who was suspected of having caused these injuries. He was located and arrested later that morning, and enquiries remain ongoing in respect of both him and that of the circumstances of what occurred.

Inspector Neil Craig says, “Whilst armed officers were deployed as part of our response, the incident was specific and contained between both of the men, who are understood to be known to each other. As a result of the information which is currently known, and from enquiries which have been undertaken so far, we are satisfied that no wider members of the public were in any danger”.

Enquiries are currently continuing in and around the area of Upper Dukes Road and an appeal is being made for anyone who may have been in or around the area at that time, particularly from anyone who may have vehicle dashcam footage, CCTV footage attached to their premises or doorbell footage that captured the incident itself.

Due to the ongoing nature of these enquiries no further information is able to be given at this time.

Anyone who has not already been spoken to by officers is asked to please make contact with the CID department at Police Headquarters on 631212 or alternatively information can be given anonymously via the Crimestoppers number of 0800 555 111.
