A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months’ probation for being drunk and disorderly outside Bordello nightclub and banned from licensed premises.
David William Prescott, of Governor’s Hill, Douglas, had previously pleaded guilty to the offence with the case being adjourned for a probation report to be completed.
The court heard that he is already on probation for 12 months after a sentence imposed at the Court of General Gaol Delivery recently.
We previously reported that police were on patrol on Loch Promenade on June 19 when they saw Prescott arguing with door staff outside Bordello.
He was said to be swearing and pointing at them and when police spoke to him he was described as unsteady on his feet, slurring his words, and smelling of alcohol.
He was warned about his behaviour but told police: ’Arrest me then, I don’t care.’
He got his wish but then said: ’What? So I swear a couple of times and get locked up?’
Defence advocate David Clegg said that probation services had recommended extending Prescott’s higher court 12-month order but the magistrates’ court was not permitted to interfere with a General Gaol sentence.
Mr Clegg said that it had been suggested that a new 18-month order be made in the summary court to run concurrently with the 12-month order, which would, in effect, extend the period of probation.
Magistrates agreed to impose the new probation order and also banned Prescott from entering licensed premises and purchasing or being sold alcohol for six months.
