A bar worker has admitted three counts of benefit fraud which resulted in him being paid £1,994 he was not entitled to.
Sean Peter Ross Maunders, of Prince’s Road, Douglas, failed to declare that he was working as a kitchen porter while claiming income support benefit.
The 28-year-old will be sentenced on July 13.
Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court how Maunders’ benefits claim was not fraudulent from the outset but he had failed to declare work he had done between January 5 and February 29 when he was employed at the Courthouse bar in Athol Street. When interviewed he gave ’no comment’ responses.
Defence advocate Stephen Wood said that his client was subject to a suspended sentence at the time of the offence and asked for the probation and psychiatric reports before sentencing.
