Specialist units from the UK have now visited the Island and have examined what was thought to be a dormant unexploded ordnance.
However the Isle of Man Constabulary has said the item in question has ’been found not to be as first thought but has been destroyed and removed by the specialist unit all the same’.
A spokesman added: ’The team will remain on Island overnight before leaving tomorrow morning but will be isolating and complying with the Isle of Man Covid restrictions.
’The Police, Fire and Rescue Service and Civil Defence would like to thank the public and those working in the area for their patience and understanding whilst this incident was dealt with.’
The site at Middle Farm Industrial Estate was first closed off on Sunday following the discovery of the item, but what it is has not yet been confirmed.
