A burglar who stole £100 in cash was identified by his DNA.
Lee Cowell, of Darragh Passage, Anagh Coar, pleaded guilty to burglary theft and was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery where he will appear on November 5.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court how, in the early hours of October 6, police were called to a ground floor flat in James Street, Douglas.
A kitchen window was broken and a letterbox had been forced out.
Coins left in a tumbler on the kitchen table, totalling around £100 had been stolen.
Blood was left at the scene and Cowell was later identified using DNA.
When interviewed Cowell, aged 44, handed in a prepared statement, denying he had entered the flat.
The court heard that he was jailed for 10 months in January 2017 and for 21 months in 2014 for similar offences.
Defence advocate Matthew Wilshaw said that the latest burglary had been an opportunistic offence committed by Cowell to fund a drugs debt.
Magistrates refused an application for bail and remanded Cowell in custody.
