A bouncer working at Bushy’s beer tent at the TT was headbutted while on duty.
He suffered a cut lip and damage to his teeth in the incident on June 4.
Christopher Joseph Parker, aged 40, of Abbeylands, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and will be sentenced on September 17 after a probation report has been completed.
A second charge of disorderly behaviour on licensed premises was withdrawn in view of the guilty plea to the ABH charge.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court that Parker was at the beer tent at the Villa Marina gardens with two friends on June 4 at 9.45pm.
At 11.55pm, the door supervisor was asking people to leave as the premises was closing. A disabled member of Parker’s group said that they were finishing their burger and this sparked an argument, during which Parker was said to have told the doorman: ’You don’t want to put your hands on me, trust me.’
Another of Parker’s group also made comments to the doorman and tried to rip his badge before being ejected.
At 12.07am, Parker was said to have walked over to the doorman and butted him in the face, injuring his lip, causing bleeding and swelling, as well as damage to his teeth.
Parker was then said to have put the man in a headlock, attempting to put him on the ground before other door staff and police intervened and Parker was arrested.
Defence advocate Stephen Wood asked for a probation report before sentencing.
Mr Wood said that the headbutt was accepted but added that it may be disputed that Parker was trying to put the bouncer on the ground and that it was perhaps better described as a general scuffle.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the report consider all sentencing options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Parker contact probation and not leave the island without court permission.
