A taxi driver was allegedly abused and his cab damaged during an incident in Victoria Street, Douglas.

Police say a man has been arrested following the incident on Saturday night alleged to involve an argument over an unpaid fare.

In a statement, the police said: ’The constabulary fully supports taxi drivers and the work they do. Violence towards them will not be tolerated and offenders will be dealt with.’

A 29-year-old man from Douglas has been charged with an offence of being drunk and disorderly in a public place in relation to this incident and will appear at court in March.
