Police are investigating a brawl that marred a football game at the weekend.

It took place at 3.30pm on Saturday at Pulrose United’s football pitch and appeared to involve a lot of players and spectators.

Pulrose were playing Ramsey Youth Club Old Boys at home in Springfield Road, Douglas.

As the match moved into stoppage time, there was an exchange of words between a number of players.

Tensions rose and spectators invaded the pitch. Things soon got out of hand.

Police say a number of people were injured.

They are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact police headquarters with information.
