Fire crews were called out to deal with a flat fire in Douglas after a tenant reported smoke coming from under the floorboards and behind skirting boards.
On arrival, it was quickly established that the smoke was coming from smouldering floor joists underneath a fireplace hearth.
The call-out to the first floor flat on Woodburn Square, Douglas, came at just before 6.50pm yesterday (Saturday).Three fire engines from Douglas attended the incident.
Fire crews cut away floor boards and removed the hearth to expose the floor joists allowing the fire to be extinguished and preventing it spreading further.
A thermal imaging camera was used to identify hot spots and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to ventilate the property.
One fire engine from Douglas remained in attendance for two hours.
