This was the scene after a car crashed onto the railway line at Blackboards.

The incident happened at about 9.15pm last night (Monday) when a red Nissan Terrano left the road at the Blackboards, collided with the wall and then slid down the embankment, coming to rest on its side on the railway track.

Thankfully, the driver was not seriously injured and escaped with minor scratches. She had got out of the vehicle before the police arrived.

Local police and a roads policing officer attended the scene and shortly before midnight the vehicle was recovered off the railway track by the use of a Hiab.

A spokesman for Isle of Man Transport said: ’As the RTC happened last night the team were able to check the line early this morning to make sure everything was ok. There was no impact to our scheduled train service.’
