Two men have admitted vandalising a car and scratching threats onto its bonnet.
Kevin Richard Lindon and Shaun Anthony Ward both pleaded guilty to property damage and theft.
They will be sentenced on September 17 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that the complainant in the case said that he saw Lindon, who is 50, and Ward, who is 32, sitting in a Vauxhall Astra near to the old Liverpool Arms pub in Baldrine on February 6 at 4.45pm.
CCTV later showed Lindon and Ward vandalising the man’s BMW.
Lindon, of Ballachurry Avenue, Onchan, was said to have burst the car’s tyres while Ward, of Malew Street, Castletown, smashed the windscreen.
They then both broke other windows in the car and finished off the job by scratching an offensive message on the car bonnet.
They were also said to have taken a motorcross helmet worth £100 from the car.
The duo were later arrested and when interviewed by police both gave ’no comment’ responses to all questions.
A compensation claim was submitted for £1,600 for the damage to the car but defence advocate Peter Taylor, who represented Ward, disputed this, saying that the complainant had stated that he bought the car for only £1,100.
More details regarding the compensation will be obtained before sentencing.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the probation report consider all options, including custody.
Bail was granted for both men in the sum of £500 with conditions that they live at their home addresses, contact the probation service, and not leave the island without court consent.
