Police investigating a knifepoint mugging have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the robbery of a woman which took place at about 1am on Saturday December 28 on Douglas promenade near its junction with Broadway.

The woman walking on her own was followed from the Glen Falcon Gardens area.

She turned left on to the promenade and was heading along the pavement on the land side of the road when the man walked in front of her near the Castle Mona Avenue junction.

He pulled out what is believed to be a knife and demanded her purse.

The woman was not injured in the incident, which was over in a matter of seconds.

Police have released a video clip asking for the public’s assistance in trying to identify and locate the man that appears at the beginning of the footage.
