Police are urging drivers to check their lights.

A total of 49 vehicles were stopped by police last night as they checked for defects and drink drivers.

At the checkpoints around the island, 19 vehicle defect rectification forms were issued including to drivers who had lights out their cars, and one roadside breath test was carried out.
