A 19-year-old has been sentenced to community service after punching a hole in a wall.
Rodney Christian, of no fixed abode, admitted an offence of property damage and was ordered to do 50 hours’ unpaid work.
The court heard how, on April 2, Christian was living at Praxis Care, accommodation for vulnerable adults.
He was being evicted due to unacceptable behaviour and Praxis was trying to find him alternative accommodation.
Christian was said to have got more and more agitated and told staff to call the police.
He then went to his room and punched a hole in the wall.
Defending Christian in court, advocate Louise Cooil said that this was her client’s first offence, as he had previously received only cautions.
’He asked Praxis to phone the police himself as he felt he was going to lose control,’ said the advocate. ’He shut himself in his room and punched the wall.
’It was a spontaneous act, not pre-meditated. He has apologised for the offence.’
Christian was ordered by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes to complete the 50 hours in the next 12 months.
He must also pay £50 compensation to Praxis and £125 prosecution costs.
